I've got a cold. I am coughing and sneezing every couple of minutes and it is is making me fucking miserable....mainly because I am 5 days post hysterectomy and it fucking hurts!

Boo hoo!

Only if I can have some back! I had a nasty fall today, in my third trimester of pregnancy. I’m very sore, weepy and worried about (still very wiggly) baby.

Sounds absolutely horrible, have you plenty of painkillers? Hot lemon and honey drinks, or if you’re still mentally a child like me, hot ribena. Feel better soon!

abbsisspartacus · 25/11/2017 19:43

FlowersCakeBrew

That sucks I had a traumatic birth followed by a horrendous placenta removal my bits looked like a clenched fist and they were so bruised! I sneezed and vowed never to do it again I thought I was going to fall apart! It's been almost five years since that I still remember Sad

abbsisspartacus · 25/11/2017 19:44

Shit Edmund ignore my post I only had a traumatic birth due to my personal physical issues nothing that will happen to you honestly and I recovered well

BackBoiler · 25/11/2017 19:45

Arrr i am sure your wiggly baby is fine but you will be understandably sore worried and shaken!

I have painkillers but it doesnt work for the sneeze cough pain in my abs (the slack ones i have) im pissed off as i was doing so well. Its like someone thought hey she is getting away a bit lightly with this

abbsisspartacus you haven’t traumatised me, don’t worry! I’ll be fine I’m sure, though I’m writing a book about my knee call ‘50 shades of purple’ Confused.

BackBoiler sneezing is the absolute worst, even without other pain mixed in. It just wreaks your whole body, then your nose blocks and makes it 10x worse Hmm. Apparently the best way to curb sneezing is to blow your nose as little as possible, but might be an old wives tale...

BackBoiler · 25/11/2017 20:20

I suppose that makes sense, the nasty itchy stuff can't get through the gunky snot!

Hope your last trimester goes smoothly from here on! (I did do a topsy turvy over the trolley handle - i hit a bump in the supermarket carpark and was rushing as it was raining - the baby has turned out to be a little nine yo stunt man!)

Oh dear, I hope you don't get the racking cough. It's bad enough without being post surgery. I wish you a speedy recovery.

justilou1 · 25/11/2017 22:02

Aaaah, you poor rabbit! I know your pain!!! (Although I was too stupid to realise that it was because everyone had brought me lovely, pink stargazer lilies and I loved the fragrance but didn't realise until my eyes were red and itchy that I was allergic to the pollen.). Keep up and walking, maybe take an antihistamine (you never know) and you'll be feeling better in no time!!! (Hot water bottles are lovely too)

BackBoiler · 25/11/2017 22:08

DH has been and got me a variety of menthol sweets, honey and lemon etc plus some goodies to eat. I have to lay on my side and grasp my abdomen to minimise the impact of the sneeze/cough. Might pop an antihistimine

backboiler do you have any codamol? Codeine is a cough suppressant. I always take at least one before bed when I have a cough, im prone to doing my back in so need to be sensible Grin

I bought a humidifier for the littlest dc's when they are bunged up, I like to nick it and fill with olbas oil when im struggling

BackBoiler · 25/11/2017 22:33

Ive got codeine phosphate? for pain relief from the hospital when i was discharged. I will take some now...i was doing well on paracetamol and the odd ibuprofen the last couple of days.

Glad you shared this info

Olbas, eucalyptus or peppermint all work, but please put them somewhere safe as they're dangerous if ingested.

I have no advice regarding your cough, but to stop sneezing just press above your cupid's bow when you feel the urge IYKWIM. It really works.

Jayfee · 25/11/2017 22:59

cupids bow??

CheshireChat · 25/11/2017 23:24

The bit above the middle of your upper lip. You know, the little groove.

CheshireChat · 25/11/2017 23:25

Cupid's bow is actually the arched bit of your lips, the bit that looks like the top half of a heart.

Floellabumbags · 25/11/2017 23:42

Shit, that's bad. How close are you to asking for horse tranquilisers and a bottle of gin?

BackBoiler · 26/11/2017 06:47

Floella I was contemplating wine - a bottle was put in the fridge. DH was delicately trying to dissuade me as he thinks its too early to drink in case i moved too much 'under the influence' and then regretted it later.
