And it makes me very depressed! Does anyone else get like this around their birthdays? It isn't exactly the thought of getting older, more realisng youth is gone, never going to be young and pretty again, life sometimes feels a bit empty, for want of a better word.

Happy Birthday! It is still your special day. Getting older is part of life - not much you can do about it.

Focus on the nice things. Do a few lovely things for yourself tomorrow and then carry on as usual when it is over.

Getting old is a privilege-many don't get to do it, so to me, every birthday is a celebration. You don't get ugly as you get older -yes, you are not young, and you may have more wrinkles and grey hair, but that isn't ugliness.
Have a very happy birthday Cake

yeah I hate the run up to birthdays and am usually glad its over

Alittlepotofrosie · 25/11/2017 13:07

Depends whether you think your value is dependant on being young and pretty.

TossDaily · 25/11/2017 13:08

Yes, I become unreasonably depressed and morose on my birthday. I actively hate it. No idea why apart from the fact I'm hurtling through my forties and can't believe it

statelypond · 25/11/2017 13:18

I don't think everybody's is for even a moment, Alittle but unfortunately I was brought up with the idea that that was all I was good for, and although I know it's not true it's quite difficult to really feel it is when something is so deeply ingrained, if that makes sense.

What do most people do to celebrate? :)

Try to make me feel better.

Birthdays are good, getting older is good... better than the alternative Wink

spankhurst · 25/11/2017 15:37

You know what they say, be glad you’re getting older because look at the alternative.

statelypond · 25/11/2017 15:51

Well, yes, definitely but that also makes me feel an awful sense of guilt for not apreciating my life

I let my pass as unnoticed as possible usually, I don't really think about it. This year however it's also my due date. Maybe if I got to share it in future it will make it fun.

statelypond · 25/11/2017 16:02

Well, I hope you are snuggling a new baby oyster!

Man, I feel like I fucked u my life today. Someone slap me and tell me to stop being a miserable bitch lol. I should be happy.
