Party entertainers

AIBU to think this is a bit shit? Twice we've seen magicians/ party entertainers where DS was left out when they were doing something with the audience. It's where they ask all the children to stand up, and they use an air cannon for example and "shoot" at them, kids then sit down. They literally do it to every single child but my DS?! He waited so patiently and his little face when he looked back at me when he had been missed out! Sad it's very obvious that they missed him as he was still standing, would it really have taken that much to just shoot the flipping thing one more time?
He also volunteers for every "act", he loves it but never gets picked. Now I know not everyone can be picked, but I felt like he was deliberately not chosen as he was a bit too keen? Someone who didn't even want to do it was chosen, 2 more kids refused as well. Surely no entertainer would do this deliberately? DS is so sad afterwards, he loves these shows but I'm tempted to steer clear of them.
Anyone else had similar experience? Do I need to get over myself here? But seeing his disappointed face breaks my heart.

Yanbu. A lot of "entertainers ' are crap.
Can you complain to the company? Or write a review that says it all.

I think you've been unlucky and are taking it a bit personally. Go to a few more, encourage him to "keep his listening ears on" and by the law of averages these things will probably even out. Keep it breezy with him, don't commiserate sadly. Just say never mind, if you keep going for it, you'll get lucky in the end.

That said, I had a v biddable "good sitter" who had a freakishly high win rate at Pass the Parcel. I reckon she was often just one of the last handful still sitting by the end!
