To not understand why IPL is safe?

I would love to have IPL hair removal but I'm worried there may be long term health effects that we don't know about.

I understand there are low levels of UVA/UVB (which can cause skin cancer) in IPL but are there other risks of being zapped by a laser? I can't find a good medical reference to say it's safe and I'm wondering if there's no long term data because it's a relatively recent treatment.

I would love to be told it's safe I hate being hairy but how do I find out? I found a Fox News article to say it's safe so of course I now think it must be terrible for your health!

There are long term health effects that we don't know about caused by many many things that we don't yet know about. You sound quite anxious - do you have health anxiety issues?
Personally I'd get rid of the hair if it was upsetting me and bigger the as yet unknown effects!
