Where do snap chat chats go?

Newbie to snapachat. My friends have it n suggested I get it. kids where enjoying the filters. My friend sent me a message and I looked at it n then it vanished. Where did it go and can I retrieve? Lol

Sort of the whole point of snapchat is the messages and pictures you send disappear after the recipient has seen them.

You can save the text messages, by pressing and holding over the text. When it's saved, there will be a grey box around it. The pictures you can't save, but you can screenshot.. However the sender is notified when you screenshot their snap!

You are able to screenshot Snapchat pics so long as you do so quickly, as you’ve a limited amount of seconds to actually view it.

Beware though that the other person will be notified that you’ve screenshot their snap, so if you’re trying to do it on the sly then that’s not possible

OK so I’ll try explain

You create a Snapchat account and if you like, create a Bitmoji (cartoon version of yourself to include in pics)

You add friends either by user name or scanning a code on their phone.

When you take a picture, you can choose whether to send it to individual friends, or post it on your story which means it’s available for 24 hours. If you send a pic/chat to a friend, unless they screenshot (or save a chat) it will disappear.

If you’re taking a selfie, you can hold the bit of screen where your face is and it will come up with filters (stuff like putting a dog on your face, or stars or a voice changer). You either tap the little circle to take a picture, or hold the circle to take a video.

Once you’ve taken a pic you can also tap on it to have a text box come up which you can write a message in (if you so wish)

It’s good for stalking your kids because you can see where they are on a map. You swipe in with both thumbs from the home screen to see the map. Of course if they want to though they can go into ghost mode and hide.

You can’t comment on stories as such, but you can reply to them and have a conversation going that way. You can also have a ‘streak’ (I think that’s what it is) which is when you send a snap to each other every day and it will tell you how many days you’ve done that. Snap maps is also good to see where your friends are (unless they are on ghost mode). I’ve got mine set up so only people who I trust to know where I am all the time can see me, rather than everyone on my contacts list!
