We need a new back door with a cat flap, find a company online phone them and order, arrange a 'survey' for last Tuesday at 5pm. Surveyor will come, measure up take cat flap back for the fabricator to fit it in the nice shiny new door - brilliant!
So I leave work early on Tuesday and get my backside home in time for the appointment. Nobody shows up, nobody answering the phone in the office because it's after 5 and no response to a message on their FB page. Expected a phone call Wednesday with their excuse but Nada, heard nothing all week. Just had a phone call from them 'hello Mrs Travis the fitters are there with your door but no-one is home?!' Shock Hmm

They are crackers aren't they? The woman in the office sounded most put out when I said this wasn't the level of service we expected and no thank you very much we wouldn't be having their door fitted today!

Still sitting here going from HmmShockConfusedAngry

And without the cat flap.

Travis1 · 21/11/2017 12:59

I had a very similar experience when I had my dog flap fitted. Are you in the southwest?

Travis1 · 21/11/2017 13:14

No, I'm in Scotland.

It's not the sort of thing I would order online.

Are there any local companies you could have called for quotes? Any recommendations from friends or neighbours?

Coffeethrowtrampbitch · 21/11/2017 13:20

I'm in Scotland too and had a similar experience getting a cat flap in a glass door.
They took away the door panel replacing it with a temporary one to do a quote. Then they phoned back and said it would be £250. When I said that was a bit expensive, they said too late, we've done the work anyway!
Also cost two days off work for 'quote' and reinstallation.
That was 15 years ago, I wouldn't put up with that now. Good for you telling them it was inconvenient, don't think I would be that polite!

Nettletheelf · 21/11/2017 13:21

They have a dozy bugger working in the office. Probably the put out woman. Poor fitters!

Witsender · 21/11/2017 13:22

Sounds like it just went in the wrong week of the diary?

FizzyGreenWater · 21/11/2017 13:24

... with the wrong time and the wrong order too.

Cancel!

IslingtonLou · 21/11/2017 13:27

Have you already paid?

Travis1 · 21/11/2017 13:33

It was to be cash on completion thankfully. It was a local company babs I just happened to find their details online. Lots of photos with positive comments from customers but when I went back and looked saw they'd turned off reviews on their FB page and everything I was seeing was basically what they wanted you too. Will be more aware with people we are looking at now.

I didn't know dog flaps were a thing.

insancerre · 21/11/2017 13:39

I paid £10 000 for windows and doors only to arrive home and find they hadn't fitted a letter his, despite it being on the spec
Do you really need one, they asked me?
Hmm

insancerre · 21/11/2017 13:40
  • letter box
Travis1 · 21/11/2017 13:53

insancerre we all know letters come down the chimney when the owls bring them why would you possibly need a letter box?! Grin

OP posts:
insancerre · 21/11/2017 14:10

True
I did lie, though and say I was expecting a very important letter and I needed my letter box first thing in the morning
Fair play to them, they did fit it the next morning
