I didn’t do it obviously, we don’t do that here Grin But I’m trying to gauge if I should give in and do it and shush next time.

Went to the library to do some work. Very busy library and finally got a seat.

During the 4 hour stint I was there he left his seat noisily 9 times.
He left his mobile on the desk surface, on vibrate which received numerous numerous texts and even calls which he just ignored and let to carry on vibrate.
He had great big ear phones on that leaked sound like nothing. Lovely loud rock and screamo music which i could hear every word to.

The two girls opposite me would glance at him. I managed a few prolonged glances, a huff and a puff!

Perhaps I only noticed this because the reading work extremely dull. Perhaps I’m just overly sensitive to noise/ precious.Wink

I’ve ordered myself some ear plugs to carry from now on.

Would you shush?

I wouldn't in our public library as it's now shed it's libraries are quiet image.

There's always lots of chatter, children's story times, and people watching things on their laptops with headphones etc.

The only quiet libraries I know are ones in Universities where they are used for studying. Our library has opened a study centre which is basically a room with desks in and a few computers.

Depends what kind of library. If you want perfect silence to work in, go home.

When I was doing my master thesis a group of ten or so students who had just started came into the study part of the library and were quite noisy. I went and closed the door to the meeting room they were in. When they came out three of the guys were loudly making fun of me for closing the door, but when I replied (snarled back at them)"Oh yes, it is a new thing that I just made up, that you are supposed to be quiet in a library", they didn't quite know how to reply. Some of the girls had the good sense to look embarrased. (It was great to have a reply for once!)
