So today I bought a salad meal deal from a well known shop. Took it back to the office and was munching away when I noticed half, yes half an insect under a lettuce leaf 😣

I have no idea whether I ate half the insect or not?!

Anyway I took it back to the store & spoke to the manager who was lovely. He took my details, gave me a refund and said he would contact head office. Just had a phone call back, they said they are going to give me £10 gift card as an apology. Part of me feels £10 is a bit insulting. Am I being unreasonable?

#1stworldproblems

Refund AND a voucher?

AllTheWittyNamesAreGone · 20/11/2017 15:54

I'd of charged you more for the extra protein

ILoveMillhousesDad · 20/11/2017 15:54

What did you want? Your weekly shop for free? 🤔

Lelloteddy · 20/11/2017 15:56

Presumably this was bought from Harrods Food Hall?

LloydColeandtheCoconuts · 20/11/2017 15:56

YABU

jaseyraex · 20/11/2017 15:56

Bloody hell. A £10 voucher for a ruined salad?! Yes, YABU. That's more than enough. I'd have expected a refund and nothing else. It's a salad, it happens.

Salad - grown in earth. Bugs in vicinity. Occupational hazard. You have not been made ill.
You've been AMPLY compensated, really.
Let it go, now.

DeleteOrDecay · 20/11/2017 16:02

YABU they didn’t even have to refund you. It actually sounds like you received very good customer service in this instance.

MothertotheLordsofmisrule · 20/11/2017 16:03

Whats with all the recent handwringing over Mother Natures protein sprinkles?

Its a bug, you didnt eat it, you got a refund and a voucher.

Your life goes on.

Insert my grandmothers usual spiel about others not even having a salad.

MissFlashpants · 20/11/2017 16:03

Sounds fair enough to me. What would have been enough?

Allthewaves · 20/11/2017 16:05

No £10 is perfectly suitable compensation

Mammyloveswine · 20/11/2017 21:42

This has happened to me twice with caterpillars... first time was boots salad... I got a 25 point voucher! Second time was a sandwich from Tesco.. again I got a voucher but only a tenner lol

Cantshedmymuffintop · 21/11/2017 00:38

Just to be clear I don't know if I ate the 'earwig' or not. There was only half a body found in the lettuce leaf. Clearly eating an earwig is considered a first world problem then. Hey ho. Personally I thought it was pretty gross and put me off shopping there.
