WIBU to send DD to nursery tomorrow.

DD(3) came out with a rash the FrIday before last - so, 9 days ago. It looked a bit chickenpoxy, but we weren’t sure. There was no sign of blisters by Monday, so I took her to the GP, who said it probably was CP. Naturally, we kept her off nursery.

When Thursday came and still no blistery action, let alone scabs, we took her to the GP again - another doc but also convinced it was CP.

There have been no new spots for days and they’re mostly fading. DD has shown no sign of itchiness and is fine in herself, though she was a bit unwell last weekend.

WIBU to take her to nursery tomorrow? I have SO much to catch up with after our week’s imprisonment, and I can’t believe that she’d still be contagious, if it even was chicken pox.

Send her
It's not chicken pox

Sounds like she just had a viral infection. My son had something similar recently. You would definitely know by now if it was CP

Send her. Does not sound like chicken pox.

outedmyselfagain · 19/11/2017 16:05

My preschool said 5 days from onset of rash.

PoxyDoxy · 19/11/2017 16:15

Thanks, everyone. I think it’s a postviral thing, too. Unless there are dramatic overnight poxy developments, off she goes!

It doesn’t really look like the roseola rash, judging by Google. And roseola seems to go quite quickly, whereas we’re 9 spotty days and counting here.

DD had hand, foot and mouth...could it be that?

Neverender · 19/11/2017 21:13

Wasn’t concerned about DD but DH insisted we take her to the OOH dr and she has impetigo and h, f & m x

Callamia · 19/11/2017 21:14

My 3mo has had a viral rash that has just about gone, about 10days after It started. It wasn’t CP, just some random virus that came with a snotty nose.

PoxyDoxy · 19/11/2017 21:21

Your poor DD, Neverender!

Don’t think it’s HFM, though, as it’s only on her trunk.

I took pfb to a&e with a rash (on 111's advice) and was told by a nurse and two doctors it was chicken pox.
She had about 6 spots and no blisters, just feverish and poorly.

A year later she had chicken pox for real and there was no mistaking it, the spots appeared very quickly and were blistering within 24 hours.

You'll know when it's chicken pox.

The chickenpox guidelines are that once they're no longer weeping and have scabbed over, they're no longer contagious. You're fine to send her in. Just hope it was chickenpox so you don't have to deal with it worse next time!

PoxyDoxy · 20/11/2017 07:57

I would LOVE it to have been chickenpox. This is the second time she’s had a pox-like rash that doesn’t go anywhere. I’m so bored with pox-watch!

My DH has had this recently, still has some rash, GP said it’s post viral.

Not chicken pox!
