To get a pre lot tree?

This isn’t really an aibu but the traffic here is a lot better and I need an answer ASAP. So, is a pre lit tree worth it? The one I want is £106 but I’m worried that if one bulb goes will the rest? Are they able to be replaced? I couldn’t afford to get such an expensive tree new every year so I’m hoping this is an investment for quite a few. The information on the tree doesn’t say anything about if the lights stop working.

Hi tree lights aren't on that kind of system anymore. If one light does go no other lights will follow. By the time enough lights go to warrant rewiring new lights onto the tree there's a good chance you'd be in need of a whole new tree by then. The led lights are better than they used to be and last for ages..

The lights are just wires onto the tree and fixed on so you can fit them loose and rewire new set on if the worst happened...

To be honest wish I'd gone pre lot. I have two trees in my House (one in the front and one in the back) both have sets of lights, I have two sets of white for one and a set of colour lights for the other and bloody hell the time it takes and amount of tangling and swearing it takes to get them on every year!!

Yabu to not buy a real tree.

Real trees shred pine needles all over and are quite sorry looking in the UK (we certainly don't have the amazing selection as in America.) the artificial trees are very 'real' looking and fuller and much nicer to look at. Also you don't have to worry about potting it or when to bring indoors or how long it will last in a warm home...

Bella8 I actually have no issue with lights. Bit of a boast but mine never get tangled and have a way of putting them on so they are just right lol it does take time though and I get dizzy so pre lit may be better 😂

As for a real tree. I would love one but I don’t want the mess with young children and cats and honestly, the money and the fact we need to keep a warm house (transplant child) I just don’t think it would look well. Thank you for the input though.

I always have issues with 2 sets of lights on one tree!! I like to light the core up though as well and I start from the top and work my way down weaving through the branches as to put some on outside too. Then I put a second set of cluster lights on as well so to be honest it's not surprising I get all tangled. The tree certainly 'glows' when I'm finished though. I'm totally OCD with the Christmas trees to a fault and to DH's annoyance! That's why I have two as one is my posh one and the other is my anything goes tree that I'll let DS decorate when he's older and and any others I may have by then...
