Long term relationships are bloody hard work

I love my DH. We have been together 20 years and have 2 DCs. But it’s hard work- not a lot of time for each other as kids young, juggling work and kids lives and seeing friends & family and trying to find time for the odd shag. It’s effing hard work keeping it going and not letting it slide into 2 people who just live in the same house. I’m a very faithful person and would never stray but there was an attractive builder round our house today doing work and I did have a moment where I thought I missed a bit of responsibility free fun (obvs I wouldn’t) as sometimes I find sustaining a relationship hard work.

Aibu- maybe it’s not like this for everyone? As in feels like hard work!

A decade and a half here. It's almost impossible some days. Other days it's great. Overall I'd rather he was poly like I am naturally. But alas, he is not.

That’s how I would describe us. I really thought i’d love to have some fun today & was tempted by this other man but wouldn’t in real life. Some days it is impossible

Dh and I have been saying this recently- we are perpetually skint so no money for date nights etc, I work evenings and he works days so we end up staying up late just to spend some time together, then we are both shattered! It is bloody hard work and I can't see anything short of a lottery win making it easier Grin

We’re very similar too Op - 17 years together here with 3 DCs under 9. We love each other a lot & do try to make an effort. I’m hoping it’ll get easier when the DC get older (& hoping we make it until then!)
