so I made an appointment for a check-up .. so that I could introduce DD to her first dental experience I made an appointment for me and for DD after

so they keep us hanging for 20 mins for a 10am appt .. how can they be running that late at this time in the morning

and then dentist says 'oh you've been taken off NHS list so will have to pay private fees' .. ok its only £5 more but really no pre-warning?

and the only reason I'm there is to show DD there's nothing to worry about

I could spit feathers

I calmly explained afterwards to dentist that it wouldn't have bothered me so much if we had been told first .. but oh not that's too much courtesy it seems

I also mentioned to receptionist and she said it was dentist's decision and fault and I had the chance to refuse

but only in the dentist's chair when I've been waiting for 20 mins with a 2 year old and she's already freaked because of finding flamin' nemo

argghhhhh

Hmm, not very impressive I agree.

My dentist otoh is fabuloso. Keeps you fully informed of all/any charges. Is a superb technician, I'm never afraid to go and see him and he's rather gorge too, so no complaints from me!

I want to be married to a plastic surgeon.

Lio · 17/04/2007 11:22

Maybe they were running late because some silly arse like me broke their tooth and needed (wanted) to be seen urgently

suzycreamcheese · 17/04/2007 11:24

dont be angry with them, its the government isnt it??? changing all rules without much consultation...
...for the record my dentist is a gentle tasty greek who is well worth travelling for..
...they were out of order though should have warned you that you're nhs status had changed thats shabby...

suzycreamcheese · 17/04/2007 11:26

kslatts · 17/04/2007 12:58

My dd who is 7 and has been referred to an othodontist, our dentist explained that the nhs now only pays for children whose need is really great, so we will probably have to pay if she needs treatment.

My dental surgery didn't tell me til after an appointment that they were 100% private now. Good job I'd taken my bank card with me .
