I was in a bargain store yesterday. The item I wanted was in a basket. Lots of different styles to choose from so had to dig around for the one I wanted. In the process I stabbed the Palm of my hand on something. On closer inspection I found a box cutter which is essentially a razor blade with no cover on in the basket. Presumably left by a member of staff. My hand was dripping with blood. I went to hand the cutter to a member of staff who said oh I'll get a manager over. Manager came over and asked if I needed a plaster. I said yes. He got me one and walked off. I called back and said is that it? Neither you or the other staff member appologised. He said oh ok and that was it.

24 hours later and I'm upset that I didn't get an apology. Should I contact head office??

I would contact HSE.

They should have completed their accident book even if you didn't want any further action.

No. You should have insisted on an apology there and then if you wanted one. You had the manager there in front of you.

I would purely for the health and safety ramifications, it shouldn't have been there and they should have taken it more seriously.

What of you had severed a vein or artery with it?

what if you had a contagious illness/disease like hiv or worse a staff member had it and had recently cut themselves too?
