If youve been in an ambulance previously, and you end up in one a second time can the crew the second time access notes from the first time?

Tiny bump in case anyone knows.

Not in the field, no. But once in hospital if you have not opted out/opted into to record sharing then the doctors and nurses can. The paramedics take you and then leave so they wouldn’t see.

At a guess I imagine control room could pass info that was loaded onto the incident log. Just a guess tho.

Thanks; the information was definitely give from LAS (either by an internal system or the control room) to the ambulance crew, it didn't come from the hospital. I appreciate the replies

It depends. Some ambulance crews (dependant on the trust) have access to some previous information via electronic patient report forms if they have them and with the right software.
Also depends if there is a specific note on the control room system (unlikely unless you have been violent/aggressive/huge complex medical conditions etc.

My paramedic friend says not where he works but occasionally control might given them information about a previous call if it’s relevant. He’s not LAS though.

bigbluebus · 15/11/2017 16:57

Not LAS but my I was once asked if I would like info about DD held on our local ambulance service database so DD could be 'flagged' as she was a regular 999 user due to a complex medical history. Wouldn't have been the sort of medical records that would be likely to change though - just basic details.

Thanks for all the replies - I am going to request that my medical information is removed from the ambulance - I ended up in ITU. I am seriously annoyed that information was used in this way; and seriously worried that it may happen again.
