To not understand why people stated that they've name changed?
The point is to stay anonymous, right? So why give a clue that you might be someone else?

I think it’s to make clear they’re not a first time poster to avoid trolling or journalist accusations.

If someone has no post history as happens with a new name, then posts a slightly shocking or dodgy sounding question, people think they're trolling.

Announcing you've changed especially to ask the question does stop the suspicion.
