To think this is dishonest somehow but not sure

I bought a brand new book from a seller on ebay. Had been a member since 2012 and had thousands of positive feedbacks.

Perfect book arrived today but in Amazon packaging with an Amazon delivery note.

I’ve checked the seller and nowhere does it mention Amazon.

I feel a bit pissed off to be honest (I usually try not to buy from Amazon) but not sure if I’m making a fuss about nothing?

They probably use Amazon fulfilment. Nothing dishonest about it they just use Amazon as their warehouse and shipper for a fee.

You ordered a brand new book, you received a brand new book. It's up to the seller where they source their purchases from.... Would you feel better if it came from China? Or in a Waterstones bag?

Same happened to me the other day with a pill cutter , ordered off eBay and it arrived in Amazon packaging , amazing for the tiny price I paid . Didn’t bother me , we use Amazon all the time .

If you don't use Amazon for tax morality reasons I'm not sure your being any cleaner using EBay, but I may have got the wrong end of the stick.

They will use Amazons fulfilment service. YABU.

Apparently there are people who advertise on eBay at a slightly higher price than Amazon but buy the item from Amazon and get it sent to you. This happened to DH a while back and I suppose they rely on people not doing searching and just assuming ebay will be a better price.

It's called drop-shipping and is a recognised supply-chain management technique.

We buy from amazon and eBay pretty much daily (live on a remote island) and this happens a lot.

This happened to me but they sent the wrong item. I ordered a phone case and wasn't expecting an Amazon parcel so when a soup spoon arrived from Amazon with no note I was completely confused. It was only after I'd got a refund for the item not being delivered even though they said it had (they hadn't provided proper tracking details since they'd done it on Amazon) that I realised what must have happened.

I’ve had it happen here too, it doubly peer me off as I stopped buying from Amazon due to rubbish delivery service & parcels forever going missing (not keen on their tax dodging either)

I've had the same experience, was a bit surprising and like you op, was trying to avoid Amazon so was a bit .

We have had quite a few things from eBay arrive in either Amazon or Argos packaging.
I don't really care - the items arrived and for the price I was willing to pay at the time of purchase.

I work for a company who sells on eBay and also on Amazon sometimes, mainly eBay though. One of our warehouses is an Amazon warehouse, so some eBay sales will be FBA shipments. (Fufilled by Amazon) its quite normal for large sellers.

Yes, it's drop-shipping and it's slightly immoral, but not illegal as far as I know.

DH ordered a phone case from ebay and was confused when it arrived in an Amazon package. He paid £12 (inc delivery charge) for a case that was £7 with free delivery from Amazon. Easy £5 for somebody.

I agree with Thegirl, if your reasoning is because of tax then eBay isn't much better and same goes for a fair few other companies you probably use.
