Drawn-on freckles?

I'm sure one of my students (uni) has drawn on freckles across her nose and the top of her cheeks... Is this a thing now?
They just don't look real, she looks like a cartoon!
Or am I imagining things?

It's a weird craze at the minute.

IHeartDodo · 08/11/2017 20:00

Noooo... I can't believe that's a thing!
Hers aren't like that though, they are bigger and perfectly round and evenly spaced!

Yup, it’s a thing.

Some people paint them on in rainbow colours Grin

Maudlinmaud · 08/11/2017 20:06

I'm quite happy for this to be trending.
I loathed my freckles as a teen, I tried many unsuccessful methods for getting rid of them. Now I quite like them.

HerBigChance · 08/11/2017 20:07

Crikey. It has a touch of the Enid Blyton about it to me.

Passmethecrisps · 08/11/2017 20:11

Well, there you go!

I am pleased as my 4yo asked me some months ago when her freckles would go away and she would be “pretty again”

PeppaPigTastesLikeBacon · 08/11/2017 20:12

Yep. It’s a thing. Totally bizarre thing!

TootOrBoot · 08/11/2017 20:15

As a heavily freckled person, this trend leaves me half 'yay, maybe I won't get as many half-witted comments about my skin' and half 'fuck's sake, of course they draw on a pretty smattering, not the full face deal like mine.'

RippleEffects · 08/11/2017 20:15

They're advertising tatoo freckles near me (North West)

HerBigChance · 08/11/2017 20:19

Natural freckles are gorgeous, though. Fake ones? Really not gorgeous.

TamzinGrey · 08/11/2017 20:20

This is nothing new. We spent ages carefully drawing freckles on our faces in the sixties. Twiggy had them and we all wanted to look like her.

Owelette · 08/11/2017 20:23

Weird trend. I’ve never seen it on a person irl. I have natural ones that stick out like a sore thumb. Hope nobody thinks mine are fake as they are just a smattering across my nose and cheeks

There's a boy a my son's school who always makes me do a double-take, as he has a triangle of freckles / moles on his face that look exactly like a typical cartoon cariacature of cheeky-small-boy-with-freckles!

DancingHouse · 08/11/2017 20:43

I used to do this when I was a teen. Easy way to cover up spots and pimples.

TheCatsMother99 · 08/11/2017 20:44

I've never seen any good fake-freckles.

DJBaggySmalls · 08/11/2017 20:45

Some people have them tattooed on, they look as fake as slug eyebrows.

MagicMoneyTree · 08/11/2017 20:46

Natural freckles look lovely. The ones in that article look like blackheads to me. Weird.

HannahHut · 08/11/2017 20:51

Why does it seem things you get bullied for become good? Grin

-ginger hair
-freckles
-a big butt
-being weirdly pale
-braces became cool for a while

Teenage me is so mad about it! (Adult me is happy they're accepted though!)

CaoNiMa · 08/11/2017 21:13

There are some odd makeup trends around these days.

I was walking through my university campus today (mature student) and was convinced I'd chanced upon some sort of carnival/drag convention.

And young folk are dressing in "vintage" clothes that I remember from the first time around.

I AM OFFICIALLY OLD.

DS and DH are fashion forward, for once! Both are covered in freckles, I think it's adorable but they hate it.

perpetuallybewildered · 08/11/2017 21:17

It was a thing in the 60s! Just a sprinkling across the nose although I never needed to use a pencil as I had plenty of the real thing.
