Yes it's the DM sorry.

If she was distressed, why did she ten reach over and touch him?

This is so blown out of all proportion I really hope she releases a statement to clear this up.

Many people here mentioning unwanted advances or attention. I guess the problem is you never truly know if the advancement or attention is wanted or not until after the fact. You could run the exact same situation with two different women approaching a man in a bar, or vice versa, and the outcome could be completely different on whether the person on the receiving end finds the other person attractive or not.

If Tom Hardy touched your knee during conversation the reaction might be different than if it was Wayne Rooney. Same action, just different responses depending on the person doing it.

I watched the episode twice and didn't even notice! I don't recall Claire looking uncomfortable or annoyed but AS wasn't very articulate.
While on the subject of the Graham Norton Show, does anyone remember the episode with Richard Gere and Saoirse Ronan? Now that was super inappropriate and uncomfortable to watch. Did it ever make the headlines in the DM?

It’s not just ‘ugly’ men who get accused of sexual assault/inappropriate touching. Considering I don’t know them from Adam I wouldn’t want either man touching my leg thanks.

Can every woman screaming outrage on here honestly say you've never touched another person during a conversation or an anecdote in a social situation (without a consent form witnessed and signed in triplicate)? I can't believe the amount of MN'ers taking this DailyFail shite and running with it.

I have never touched another person on the knee when telling a story, apart from possibly my husband. Definitely never a work colleague, which is about as close a relationship I can identify this story with.

Hopfully people will stop jumping to conclusions and smearing people's names with no evidence.

Well this was conveniently left out

Fans reported that Thompson was also ‘touchy feely’ on the programme, however, ruffling Sandler’s hair at one point

I found Emma Thompson’s comment about her vagina vulgar and unnecessary.

WilyMinx What happened with Richard Gere on Graham Norton? I've found the episode on YouTube but don't have time to watch it all. I've whizzed through it and they seem to be sitting respectably all the way through? What it something that was said?

Omg. I was expecting something really bad before watching that.
He did nothing wrong!

I thought they were joking, she didn't look uncomfortable to me. Emily was laughing at his jokes and looked relaxed. Emma Thompson wasn't glaring in the clip, she looked quite friendly to me.

I think people are just starting to look for offence at nothing.

I mean Claire not Emily, my excuse is I haven't got a clue who she is.

Agh ll those still pictures make this look so different to the actual show. He was referencing her Emmy award and touched her knee while doing so she got a surprise and when she did he moved it. Then she allowed him to do it again and touch his hand it was seconds and it wasn't sexual in any way.

As for Adam sandler if you look at his serious roles he is a great actor also 50 first dates is a peach but he doesn't really do talk shows and stuff he seemed nervous who wouldn't be beside the wonderful emma Thompson on the graham norton show for the first time.

And anyone offended by rude comments or talk of vagina don't watch graham norton again it clearly isn't the program for you.

The Richard Gere episode is really awful - you have to watch the whole thing and its not good watching.

I'm also going to watch the whole of this GN show before forming an opinion this clip.

Oh dear, I am picturing Lee Macs face and can't stop laughing. Not an appropriate attitude, I must have a word with myself.

“To me it looks like he taps her on the knee as a personal gesture towards the conversation, she goes to put her hand on his but he removes it before she has a chance, she then reaches across to touch his hand to complete the action and he puts his hand back to let her do so. Seems like a bit of an awkward misunderstanding to be honest, I don't think she looks uncomfortable about being touched, more embarrassed at awkwardness of them misreading each other's moves.
It's a bit like when you are trying to move out of the way for someone and you both end up dancing about a bit.”

This is what happened. This. When I read silly threads like this discussing a non-issue, and a Daily Mail fucking article at that (HOW hypocritical?!), it makes me extremely angry on behalf of all those women who have genuinely been assaulted. There is NO comparison between this missed hand pat awkwardness and what has happened to all those other women, and it’s damaging and frankly insulting to suggest otherwise.

How many of you touch your colleagues on the knee when telling a story? In particular, colleagues from another department who you've never met before, or being generous, have met once? This is not how people behave!

It was a touch on the knee. If anyone cares they really need to get a sense of perspective.

Emma pretended to ruffle his hair as she was telling a story about Donald Trump. She didn’t actually touch him. I still think Claire looked very uncomfortable throughout the interview and looked annoyed with the hand of her knee. I did actually watch the whole episode though.

It's not the touch as much as the body language.
