AIBU? Eye-Bu? Am I Being Unreasonable?

How do you read AIBU? Do you think "am I being unreasonable" in your head or try to pronounce "Aibu"?

I usually think "Ay-eye-boo" to myself, but sometimes the long version.

I read it eye-boo. I read YANBU as yan-boo. I read YABU as ya-boo (with a short a sound).

VampireLatteDrinker · 28/10/2017 19:53

I say "eye-boo", "ya-boo" or "yan-boo" in my head

silverbell64 · 28/10/2017 19:56

just plain old "am I being unreasonable" here.

raviolidreaming · 28/10/2017 19:56

I don't think I read them as anything. Just recognise them and move on.

ManchesterGin · 28/10/2017 19:56

Eye-boo.

I bizarrely sometimes sing
Eye-boo eye-boo eye-boo in my head Blush

Caulk · 28/10/2017 20:01

Am I bring unreasonable.

I get thrown by GP as I read that as a doctor, then think grandparent and then guinea pigs...

Elledouble · 28/10/2017 20:02

JigglyTuff · 28/10/2017 20:12

Nothing other than the letters. This goes back to that really interesting thread a couple of months ago where the OP was asking people if they read words aloud in their heads when reading. It was put a lot more eloquently than that Blush

kali110 · 28/10/2017 20:15

Am i being unreasonable.
Didn't know there was any other way Confused

Looneytune253 · 28/10/2017 20:15

Ooooh now you’ve just made me think I don’t read words in my head at all. There’s no physical words heard in there just reading and then understanding never thought about it before. How bizarre. I do hear the words as I’m writing though as I’ve just discovered.

MakeItRain · 28/10/2017 20:19

Aye eye bee you! But really it's never been the same since we lost "Am I Being Unseasonable" at Christmas Sad

DJBaggySmalls · 28/10/2017 20:29

ButchyRestingFace · 28/10/2017 20:34

I don't parse AIBU as anything.

But I do think YA BOO quite a lot.

Or even, YA BASS.

Nikephorus · 28/10/2017 20:34

The full words.

Goldenbug · 28/10/2017 20:35

Glad it's not just me being weird.

Or maybe there are just more other weird people about than I realised.

OP posts:
Eyebooyanbooyaboo · 28/10/2017 20:40

I definitely pronounce them in my head.

If I've seen a film and then read the book after, I "hear" the voices of the actors for each character. Same with TV or audiobook.

QOD · 28/10/2017 20:42

I THINK I say aye booo

But now I’m over thinking it I’m all confused

silverbell64 · 28/10/2017 20:43

Definitely you being weird. Either that or you're on here too much and over thinking.

Jenala · 28/10/2017 20:44

I say ay-boo, where at rhymes with hay

CaoNiMwahaha · 28/10/2017 21:22

Eye-boo and Ya-boo.

Sometimes I'll witness a situation and think Ya-boo in my head.
