I LOATH SCATTER CUSHIONS

I hate scatter cushions...even the name scatter is vile. I know that they maketh a bedroom look cosy, but "public place" scatter cushions; those on a hotel bed...well I can't help thinking that some naked person has used it in a "peekaboo' type way to cover their money-maker, or rested their lice-infested head on them.
And don't get me started on the 'throw' at the bottom of the bed... I always think that the person before me has just either had sex on the sexy-fur-throw OR just done it AND wiped their knob on it...just because they can OR crawled 'pubically' over it, in a sex-kittenish way...
Obv. I have an over active imagination, watched too many US dramas but dear reader...when do they ever get washed????

Some downmarket hotels just do a 'pull and pluck' scoop. Pull the bottom sheet very tight and pluck all the hairs/bits off ready for the next guest.

furcoatandnoknickers · 26/10/2017 21:29

He he I do pube check too!! (was slightly obsessed with that "4 in a bed program" about B and Bs) - thats what got me onto more stringent checks.

Really I should not be allowed out.

Pull and pluck..oh fgs..is that really true?

I think we all drool at least a teaspoonfuls every night.......pillow protector please (that IS actually changed).

YY the pull and pluck is a thing but not sure which establishments. i think it came from an article about the secrets of hotel staff.

Washing the teacups with cold water in the sink and cleaning the bath with used towels. That sort of thing.

vintagesewingmachine · 26/10/2017 21:34

I once saw a TV programme where they investigated the hygiene in some supposedly "nice" hotels. In one establishment, the semen of 29 different men was detected on one of those bottom-of-the-bed throw things!! Needless to say, any scatter cushions and bed throws are swiftly bundled into the wardrobe or under the bed at any hotels or self catering places we go to these days

Crumbs1 · 26/10/2017 21:50

It’s 23:48 here and I’ve thrown the cushions off the bed. We’ve also got a problem with a very aesthetically pleasing but completely flat basin with five small holes instead of a plug hole. We either brush our teeth naked or get soaked. Why can’t we just have functionality.

Sparklingbrook · 26/10/2017 21:53

Oh I hate those sinks crumbs.

We had one once where it was like a long trough (like a tiny shallow bath) and the water had to come all the way down to the plughole from the top end. Looked beautiful but zero for practicality.

Is the shower decent?

In one establishment, the semen of 29 different men was detected on one of those bottom-of-the-bed throw things!!....I KNEW it..Well done Vintage sewiwgmachine - I knew there would be real evidence!

..or the basins that have no plug because they are works of art-Crumbs...so you have to do a sort of parched-beggar-scooping manoeuvre

I hate decorative pillows and those stupid throws on hotel and b and bs beds. They are disgusting. I complain about them.

Sparklingbrook · 26/10/2017 22:22

I have never fully mastered a hotel shower first time. by the day we check out I usually have the best shower at the right temperature.

ShotsFired · 26/10/2017 22:35

You'd think hotels of all places would have mastered the bedside penis beaker tray by now, if only to spare the curtains.

IfYouGoDownToTheWoodsToday · 26/10/2017 23:02

First thing I do when entering a hotel room is to move those cushions and the bed en, throw, thingy.

They go straight in the wardrobe, out sight and out of many mind Grin.

After reading this thread, I’m going to want to do that with the curtains too!

furcoatandnoknickers · 26/10/2017 23:57

bedside penis beaker tray tee hee, no home should be without one - SF!!

I didn't think it was so they could wipe them down either..

I have always been cautious around scatter cushions and throws in hotels. IMO, anything which is not single use in a setting where people are likely to be naked, should be removed immediately.

I’m perfectly content with the cushions on the couch in the lobby, but on a bed that someone else has slept in, no.
