Is that you DD?

Trailedanderror · 25/10/2017 21:36
Wink There's been a confusing email today, I know that, but I'm not entirely certain of the time frames.
BareBum · 25/10/2017 21:48

No way.

RangeTesKopeks · 25/10/2017 21:52

Why Bare?

Ooh what is in the email Trailed? I haven't received anything.

Maybe Bare is my DD!

I did but didn’t get past the situational judgement questions. I probably didn’t prepare enough. Thinking about it, I don’t think it’s the role for me anyway.

I have a deferred offer. The only part of the application I dislike is the video interview, completely unnatural and there's no clarity as to how they are marked (difficult to believe they watch all of them the whole way through).

Intrigued about the email, what did it say?

RangeTesKopeks · 25/10/2017 22:14

Congratulations Bombardier :)

I passed it almos 40 years ago and had a great varied career both in UK and other parts of the world. Retire next year with huge lump sum and very healthy annual pension. So well worth going for it even though, from memory, it is quite a daunting and lengthy process. Enjoyed almost every day of the job.

Thank you. Have you seen the thread on the Student Room? It's worth looking back on the one from last year too.

Be aware that, unless you have caring responsibilities or a disability, they will expect you to be mobile. The Generalist scheme move every six months, I'm too old for all that hassle!

TicklishSpider · 26/10/2017 08:40

I started on the scheme a few years ago. It’s great Smile Good luck all applying!

(To clear up the relocation thing: yes they do expect you to be mobile unless you’ve got reasons otherwise, but it’s the post you move every six months, not your location. Most of my friends who’ve moved have been based in eg London for most of the scheme and done one 6-month posting elsewhere.)

I've been a civil servant and found it to be nightmarish round of impossible targets and people trying to run it like a business when it's nothing of the sort.
