I don't think hte weather is good enough for the coast, we'll end up spending all our time in the amusements or on hte fair and probably end up spendng £30-50 before we know it. It is a 2hr trip each way, although teh thought of sea-side fish and chips is GOOD.

I think we will be better off going somewhere else for the day. It shouldn't cost any more and can be closer.

SO big question I need suggestions that will tempt him away from teh beach. We are in Leicester, have to go and fetch DTDs from Cambridgeshire first (i.e. en route) where can we go? An hours drive from Leics or Peterborough max, so Cambridgeshire, Leicestershire, South Lincs, North Northants, South Notts (maybe) are all options.

Wicksteed park would have been PERFECT if we didn't go 2 weeks ago (I don't see why we can't go again but he is not convinced!!!)

How old are the kids? Twinlakes?

kslatts · 12/04/2007 13:10

We went to Dorset at the weekend and spent loads of time on the beach, we hardly spent any money the kids were happy to play in the sand and paddle in the sea.

SlightlyMadSlug · 12/04/2007 13:11

DTDs are 6 (also have DD3 11m).

Twinslakes is also perfect BUT having DTDs bitrthday party there in 2 weeks, so same arguments as Wicksteed park

THe problem I have with the beach the distance combined with the weather. I would have no arguments if it was a glorious day in June

Just spent a glorious afternoon in the local park. Took a picnic, bikes, bats and balls, other toys. All I spent was £3 for 2 ice creams and 1 ride on the carousel.

I had to talk my dh out of a beach trip on Friday. Funnily enough, we did go to Wicksteed. It was cold there though, until later in the afternoon.

What about Drayton Manor for the next time?

SlightlyMadSlug · 14/04/2007 22:06

Yes but at Wicksteed DTDs could go on EVERYTHING. I know cos we were there 2 weeks ago, and the cold isn't as bad when you are at an inland park as opposed to the seaside.

Instead they spent the day being told they couldn't do XYZ....

It's the driving time I hate. 2 hours there, 2 back, bored kids in the car - all for 3-4 hours at the coast.

Was there anything about it you enjoyed?

SlightlyMadSlug · 14/04/2007 22:14

Fish and chips (which were better than you can get at home)....donuts.....but those 2 things are not worth driving for 4hours+ in a day for.

The rides at wicksteed park were far more taylored for 6yo they could practically run around and put them on the rides. Would have cost £30 +picnic which is probably about the same as we paid at the coast...and I might have met another MNettr!!!

See you there next time!

Janh · 14/04/2007 22:35

Thing is with men that they like to do something once and then, however good it was, do something new and more exciting the next time - they just don't get that kids love to do the same nice things over and over and over and over again...

Sorry you had such a crap day, SMS. He owes you one.
