AIBU ..noisy neighbours

Its been 11 years now. It is hard to conduct the usual noisy family life with only a thin partition wall in terraced houses.
We have listened to them roar at their children and really thought that once the kids grew up, the shouting might stop. It hasn't.
Recently, their eldest son came home with a new girlfriend who has two small kids.
Surprisingly, his parenting style is not a milllion miles from his parents. They stayed for a week and I thought a few times about calling SS.
This evening its just him and her and it sounds like a chimpanzee on helium that is being exorcised...
11 years. No real chance of moving.
My husband says he has gotten used to it but I haven't. AIBU to think it isn't odd to still find it grates on my nerves.
Am I being a bit wet?

Why no chance of moving? If it was so bad you wouldn't have put up with it for 11 years.

Yellowflowers77 · 17/10/2017 18:44

Only option is to move

Noise from neighbours is hellish and I think you can become more sensitive to it rather than less. Like you are on edge.

we lived abroad for 4 years. Forgot how grating it is. Genuinely thought that by the time the kids had gone, some of the arguing would have settled but it hasn't.
The house we are in is what we can afford.

Sort of anticipating it at roughly the same time everyday. Its the pitch of their voices. Not just a bit of a raised voice.but a high, needling screech that goes like a machine gun.

This would drive me crazy 😩 I feel for you.

My neighbours are so noisy and have their tv so loud I have to sleep with a fan on high speed to drain them out!

Littlehousebig · 17/10/2017 18:53

Have you spoken to them about it?

sooperdooper · 17/10/2017 18:53

That would drive me mad - why can't you move?

lolaflores · 17/10/2017 18:54

the summer is awful with windows open and they are in the garden screeching then in the winter they screech from room to room.

sooper, how do you approach people who are unable to have a civilized conversation with one another? It doesn't seem like an option. Once I did ask them to stop zooming their petrol fueled model cars up and down the garden one summer night after 10pm. I got quite a sullen reaction and they simply revved the car up. I didn't fancy a war over the garden fence...
