For expecting a spray tap to actually spray

I purchased a kitchen tap with a 'pull out spray' and once it was installed I discovered it doesn't actually spray! I can pull the hose out to extend the length but there is no function to change from the regular water flow to a spray.
Upon contacting the retailer I was told that the tap does spray; that the regular water flow constitues a "spray" because the end of the tap has an aerator, and that the tap was not advertised as having "multiple sprays".
AIBU to think I was decieved here? Not sure whether to complain to Trading Standards or not.

Can you link to the tap so we can see the description?

The description is ambiguous - can you stick your thumb over it a la hilarious hose pipe japes to create a spray?
