Yes to gin and pink lemonade.

Gin and COKE though? Tried that once at a party when the nice mixers had run out. It tastes like washing up liquid.

I am mad keen on red vermouth and coke, incidentally. Surprisingly delicious.

MrsC2000 · 15/10/2017 17:01

I drink it with lime and lemonade

insancerre · 15/10/2017 17:02

Red vermouth and coke is bloody delicious
I always get odd comments from bar staff though

Highpeak · 15/10/2017 17:03

Gin with lemon Fanta is very popular in Spain

Eminybob · 15/10/2017 17:05

YANBU, tonic is rank.
I used to think I disliked gin, but having taken part in a neat gin tasting, I realised it is rather lovely, it's the tonic I dislike.

CoughLaughFart · 15/10/2017 17:08

I sometimes switch to lemonade after a few G&Ts as it can get too bitter after a while. I'm sure there are gin snobs (the kind who dismissed it as something their nan drank until it became trendy) who'd be aghast, but it's not their shilling.

ShakeShakeTheMuffin · 15/10/2017 17:14

Another vote for elderflower. I often have tonic with elderflower cordial if I'm driving. When I'm drinking gin I don't bother with the cordial but it does go very nicely. Or try 1724 tonic, it's completely different to standard tonic and quite sweet. In the end though drink what you enjoy. Personally I can't stand whisky! Blush

AndNoneForGretchenWieners · 15/10/2017 17:18

Gin and rose lemonade is lovely. I also have just bought some strawberry gin which is delicious with lemonade.

wonkylegs · 15/10/2017 17:18

If you like it go for it.
I drink lemonade with certain flavoured gins- I had a spiced orange gin with lemonade last night and that was awesome.
If I was going for a standard gin then I'd have it with a decent tonic but that's just my preference.
The only thing I hate with it is Schweppes tonic (although I know many like it) because I think the tonic is overpowering and not very nice. Most supermarket tonics are ok but prefer fentimens or fevertree if I have a choice.

sadiemm2 · 15/10/2017 17:30

Elderflower is quite nice with gin, so is 7up, a bit trashy that, but drinkable. Tonic water makes me retch

DaisyRaine90 · 15/10/2017 18:08

Hate G and T 🤢
G and bitter lemon is Ok

Will definitely try it with lemonade
Not a big wine 🍷 fan unless it’s mixed with lemonade
And much too middle class old to drink vodka 😂

Shame WKD is the bomb

QuackDuckQuack · 15/10/2017 18:17

I think that lots of the poncy tonics you can buy now are a lot sweeter than traditional tonic water. That means you can look sophisticated while actually heading towards alcopop territory. I’d happily include myself as one of them, I much prefer sweet alcoholic drinks and love gin and tonic.

DaisyRaine90 · 15/10/2017 18:42

It’s like fruit ciders
They are essentially just expensive, socially acceptable alcopops

I miss Reefs 😂

Crumbs1 · 15/10/2017 18:44

Just no. Decent gin with a good tonic is the drink of the Gods. Lemonade would make it into a student, overly sweet prink. Not suitable for adults.

Tableforjuan · 15/10/2017 18:48

YABVU...lovely lovely quinine. Although there must have been some basis behind Snoop Dogg's vote for Gin and juice.

BarbaraofSevillle · 15/10/2017 19:02

Gin and lemonade (posh stuff like San Pellegrino, or lemon fanta at least, not the clear stuff) is called a Pomada so YANBU.

I prefer G&T but a pomada is also very nice.

BarbaraofSevillle · 15/10/2017 19:03

Or Lidl sometimes do a bitter orange that is very nice with gin. If I don't have any of that, I sometimes have gin with a mix of orange juice and tonic.

PurpleStarInCashmereSky · 15/10/2017 19:04

Have it with bitter lemon. Much nicer than lemonade.

2tired2bewitty · 15/10/2017 19:07

My grandmother always drank Gin and ginger beer and she lived to 96, in her own home to the end. I think she may have been slightly pickled.

glenthebattleostrich · 15/10/2017 19:10

Gin and lemon tonic. Or Sicilian lemonade.

Or elderflower cordial and soda

Rose lemonade is good

blueskyinmarch · 15/10/2017 19:15

That’s what my student DD calls a Gimonade! She drinks it as lemonade is cheaper than tonic. She doesn’t like vodka at all and much prefers gin with her lemonade.

insancerre · 15/10/2017 19:15

Pomade
It's the drink of the gods
Spent many an hour in menorca drinking that

ScoobyDoosTinklyLaugh · 15/10/2017 19:34

Yanbu

I call it a poorman's Tom Collins.
