To ask for annual leave to be reinstated?

I had four days of annual leave booked over these past 2 weeks but ended up being sick for the whole fortnight so also missed work and obviously missed out on enjoying my annual leave. Is it ok to ask for the leave I put in to be reinstated for another few dates?

It's been possible everywhere I've worked, but most people don't bother because you need medical certs and it goes on your sick record (obviously).

Not possible where I work. I think if you are sick before the AL starts you might be able to but not retrospectively.

At my work, annual leave cannot be used while off sick, so any annual leave booked over a period of sickness automatically becomes available to use at a different date.

You'd get the AL back where I work, but judging from the responses on this thread, it entirely depends on your work's policy and attitude to sick leave. Also whether you'd be able to get a doctor's note now, which presumably you'd need if off sick for more than a week?

Depends if you want to be paid or not?

Also sick pay policies - many employers pay sick leave in full for several months' so the OP wouldn't necessarily lose pay if she was off sick.

I'd only get it back with a drs note to prove I had been poorly. Did you go to the drs? But check your work annual leave policy.

You can do this where I work; but you need to make it clear on the first day that you’re still off sick and not on annual leave, and they then cancel the annual leave.

If you haven’t yet asked, I’m afraid it’ll probably be too late now.
