Husband and bread rolls (light hearted)

I work away but at home on a Friday. I get a phone call from husband yesterday saying he’d been to the butchers to get what we needed for the weekend including black pudding for me to have rolls for breakfast today.

All well and good.

Then he said he’d got the rolls from the bitchers (it’s a huge farm shop so sells all sort)

EXCEPT

The butchers rolls are very soft!

Everyone know you can’t toast and butter a small soft bread roll

They disintegrate!

I never buy soft rolls - even go to different shop to get crusty if I have to.

I questioned it and he said a roll is a roll!

A roll is not a bloody roll.

I tried and ended up with buttery bread crumbs.

So they’ve ended up in the bin and I’m using the last of his granary bread to make black pudding sandwiches!

He was saving it to mop up tonight’s onion gravy.

He’s been working since 2am but I fully intend dispatching his to get new rolls (crusty!) for tomorrow.

I would go myself but he’s got my car as his is garage being serviced.

It’s just not good enough!

YABU - they are not rolls, they are cobs.

ferrier · 13/10/2017 09:21

They are rolls. Of course you can toast them though why you'd want to toast a lovely soft roll is beyond me. Crusty rolls are an abomination not worthy of the name Grin

TwitterQueen1 · 13/10/2017 09:28

Why do you need to toast the rolls? I wouldn't. I love soft rolls with a mountain of butter. I would have thrown some scrambled eggs in there too, along with the black pudding

dantdmistedious · 13/10/2017 09:29

You don't toast rolls!

Crescend0 · 13/10/2017 09:30

Black pudding Confused. Onion gravy Hmm YABU.

n0ne · 13/10/2017 09:39

Toasting rolls - what fresh hell is this? Shock Crusty rolls cut your mouth to ribbons, fact. Soft, pillowy rolls, torn open and slathered with real butter all the way.

Oysterbabe · 13/10/2017 09:41

If you can't butter the roll your butter is too hard. Do you not have a butter dish?

peachgreen · 13/10/2017 09:41

YABVU to throw away perfectly good bread rolls... Hmm

Also how hard is your butter?!

(Very distracted by the idea of soft bread rolls and onion gravy now...)

woolythoughts · 13/10/2017 09:47

I hate hate bacon/sausage/blackpudding on an untoasted roll!

Maybe I'm the weird one.

And I use lurpack spreadable - still tears apart toasted soft rolls.

Try it!

And toasted crusty rolls sounds even worse.

If you want toast use bread

justanothermomentintime · 13/10/2017 09:53

Oysterbabe · 13/10/2017 09:59

Spreadable?! You are being v v v unreasonable. If you used butter you would not have this problem.
