To consider travelling with Ryanair?

Trying to book a short break for DP's significant birthday in early December. Most of the places on my shortlist would be easiest to get to with Ryanair as we're very close to a major Ryanair hub. None are on routes currently earmarked for cancellations. But would you risk it, in view of recent cancellations, etc?

No. Wouldn't fly with that airline if it was the only one in the world. I wonder what safety cuts they make to maximise profits. Let alone how they treat their staff and customers.

I'm so torn with Ryanair - just had all my and any parents flights cancelled from November until march including half of a round trip (going out in October, back November). The concept of rerouting was non existent as they will no longer fly to Northern Ireland from southern airports until next April! My mum may have been stuck here for sometime!!!

However they refunded our money swiftly and we rebooked with easyJet (which was weirdly cheaper) who were fantastic.

Because of the cost and shortness of flight I imagine we will be using them again in the future, don't really want to, but cost is important when we want to make the trip a few times a year!

Maybe take a look at easyJet?

I choose Ryanair over other airlines where possible. They have messed up their pilots' schedules though so if you decide to book with them, make sure you have travel insurance (valid from the date of your booking) that includes coverage for airline error.

I would risk it - I travel with Ryanair every week - they are pretty good. The sad fact is they have an almost monopoly on some routes that they have created themselves - the trick is not to rely too much on on them and book millions of stuff that relies on them. That said, when we were deleayee over three hours recently they were really excellent - kep tus fully informed at all times and paid the EU compensation without quibble and quickly.

I would. They've always treated me well, despite what everyone says. And I fly 6+ times a year with them.

Also, I think all cancellations due to the pilots cover etc have now been announced, so you should be okay.

I would (and am booking just now) but you have to totally accept it might go sideways and cause all sorts of issues. As long as you arent the type to collapse in a teary heap in the airport that DPs birthday has been positively and totally ruined then it should be ok. Have a Plan B.

I would still travel with Ryanair, absolutely.

I'd just be more likely to book my accommodation through somewhere that offers free cancellations on rooms (like Booking.com).

Thanks everyone - seems like most of you would risk it! Have only ever flown Ryanair once and that was years ago - we usually fly Easyjet as I find their pricing more transparent.

I'm very torn - it's the difference between a very cheap 30 minute ride to the airport and a very expensive taxi or two hours each way to our next nearest airport. But really don't want to spoil a special trip or end up with a load of hassle trying to book something else at short notice.

Annoyingly, Easyjet either don't fly to most places on my shortlist from our nearest airport, or don't do so on our dates (which are fixed because of childcare arrangements - parents are very kindly looking after DS but we are tied to dates and three nights max). Am looking at Eurowings and Jet2 as well though.
