To ask why Facebook Messenger has given me 'suggested contacts?' Pic attached.nf

So I've gone into the message requests part of Messenger, I have a message request that I have made invisible in this pic and then below it I have a list of 'suggsted contacts' (I have also made the names of these people invisible)

Some of these people I know but am not friends with, however have their numbers in my phone contact list so maybe that's why. However, some of them I don't know/ or don't have their numbers or anything in my phone. Just wondering why they've been suggested as a 'suggested contact?'

Anyone know?

Friends of friends on messenger?

My phone syncs contacts so if a non Facebook friend sends me a text message, I see their Facebook profile photo.

I see some of my colleagues in a differemt light!
