I’m watching Moana with the kids today, for the billionth time (I don’t mind as I love the film) and no matter how hard I try I always cry at the scene where the grandma tells Moana to go and find Maui, then she’s dies and her spirit fish swims into the sea and above Moana. You’d think I would be immune to it by now, but no!

What makes you cry every time?

The bit in Gladiator where he dies in the arena and his wife and son are waiting for him on the other side.

TodaysFishIsTroutALaCreme · 06/10/2017 11:27

I have two.

The 1st 10 mins of UP and the bit in forest hump where he tells Jenny's grave "and he's so smart" very time damnit, every time.

Deathraystare · 06/10/2017 11:29

Oh Gawd! The Incredible Journey - at the end when (sod you I am weepy now!!) the boy doesn't think his old dog will come back. Oh you are cruel I am typing and weeping at the same time! I am on reception, damn it!!!

gamberra · 06/10/2017 11:31

The end of Toy Story 3 when Andy gives his toys to the little girl and plays with them for one last time... Welling up now thinking about it Blush

overnightangel · 06/10/2017 11:31

Last scene of Field Of Dreams where he plays catch with his dad.
Cinema Paradiso when Salvatore comes come for Lafdedo's funeral
Prob loads more but those 2 spring immediately to mind. !

Someoneasdumbasthis · 06/10/2017 11:31

Truly madly deeply. All of it. All the time.

overnightangel · 06/10/2017 11:32
  • Alfredo's funeral
IToldYouIWasFreaky · 06/10/2017 11:33

The bit in Return of the Jedi where an ewok dies in a battle. He goes down and his friend shakes him as if to wake him up, then realises he is dead and makes this sad little noise. Gets me every single time!

Also Jessie's song in Toy Story 2. DS was obsessed with Toy Story when he was little but I could never make it through that song without a little cry.

MephistophelesApprentice · 06/10/2017 11:33

Saving Private Ryan - the scene on the bridge, where Captain Miller knows he is dying but pulls his pistol and keeps putting shots into the tank.

Valour moves me.

Rhynswynd · 06/10/2017 11:34

Daddy......my daddy

Jenny Agutter running along that train platform to her daddy chokes me up every time.

Llanali · 06/10/2017 11:35

The Notebook dancing scene.

Million Dollar Baby- most of the end!

FortunatelyUnfortunately · 06/10/2017 11:35

The start of Up and the but in Les Miserables when Fantine (Anne Hathaway) sings I Dreamed A Dream. Stunning acting and utterly heart wrenching.

HighlyUnlikely · 06/10/2017 11:35

Rhynswynd - That scene... Every. Single. Time.

Tinty · 06/10/2017 11:37

The first 10 mins of UP too. Also the Bridge to Terabithia, when the young girl dies.

BlueNeighbourhood · 06/10/2017 11:37

Titanic, every single time at the end when Rose dies and everyone is waiting for her on the boat and Jack is there by the clock.

I'm almost crying just thinking about it...awww...he waited all this time for her :(

JesusTapdancingChrist · 06/10/2017 11:39

The Green Mile destroyed me when I first watched it. Had just started dating Ex-DP and ended up ugly bawling onto his trouser leg Blush.

E.T. will never not make me cry. The genius of Spielberg.

Also anything to do with The Troubles usually sets off a visceral reaction in me. I couldn't make it through either The Wind that Shakes the Barley or Hunger because I was crying so much.

The Pianist made me howl.

Life is Beautiful. Almost crying now just thinking about it. Have avoided watching The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas because I know it would be similar Sad.

HemanOrSheRa · 06/10/2017 11:40

The scene in An Officer And A Gentleman where Foley is shouting at Mayo 'I want your DOR'. And Mayo says 'I got nowhere else to go, I ain't got nothing else'.

bogofeternalstench · 06/10/2017 11:41

The end of Stand By Me where we find out about the death.
Dead Poet's Society.
Beaches.

LostFatherr · 06/10/2017 11:42

The scene where Shadow makes it home in Homeward Bound. Goosebumps just thinking about it.

Ooh. I've just thought of another one. There's an old made for TV film called An Early Frost about a young man who is gay and has hidden it from his family. Me and my mum used to watch it on VHS videotape of an afternoon, so we could have a weep as a little treat Grin.
