Table manners

So we've just moved into a new house, family of 6; myself, dp, teen dd x 2, dsd and baby ds.
We now have the fortune of having space for a dinner table which I absolutely love. I had envisioned mealtimes sat together of an evening catching up with each other etc.
This has worked well with the children and we all chat and they seem to really enjoy the time.
However, my dp will scoff his food and then get up, tidy away his plate in the dishwasher and 'f' off without so much as a word. When I've asked him about it he says he 'wants to get stuff done' and I find him pottering with something or other in the house.
AIBU to be totally peed off that he can't just sit for a while and catch up with us.....or at least say 'excuse me I need to do blah blah before it gets late'.
I realise that this is probably trivial but I just find it so rude and such a bad example to the kids!

I always make a big show of saying to DS how he doesn't want to grow up with no table manners like daddy lol. My DH is the same! Badly brought up unfortunately!

That would piss me off too and it does set a bad example!
Is it really that hard to spend half an hour at the table with your family Hmm

Start serving him jam sandwiches for dinner as “you want to get stuff done”. YANBU

This would really annoy me too

Have you told him how important you think it is to all have dinner together?

As a one off during a busy period is fine as long as it is “that was delicious but I have loads to do. Does anyone mind me clearing up?”

Every time is just rude. What do the children say?
