I'm feeling angry/upset/let down and need to get it out!

I've just been congratulated on my pregnancy by a not so close family member. I'm 10 weeks and we haven't announced it to the wider circle. Turns out FIL and his OH told people yesterday at a family gathering I wasn't at.
I know it's just because they are excited but I'm pissed off. That was our news to announce when we were good and ready. Given our not so great run of pregnancies so far it just means there more people to tell if it goes wrong again!!
I won't say anything to them as it's done now and they can't take it back but I feel really let down. And annoyed. And then sad. And then pissed off again.

Why won’t you say anything?

My mil tells everyone everything, when she gets upset that DH and I don’t tell her anything we remind her that it’s because she can’t keep information to herself so we can’t tell her things unless we want all the aunts/ uncles/ family friends/ postman to know.

If you don’t say a thing they won’t know they’ve done anything wrong.

We never told anyone until we were happy for everyone to know because someone always can't contain their excitement!

Tell him you are upset they chose to tell others when you'd told them in confidence.

Let it go...it'll be ten times worse when everyone descends on you after the birth and when everyone wants to hold baby....

You just have to accept these things otherwise you'll get annoyed permanently with them..

Grandparents are necessary and extremely useful...

RandomMess · 03/10/2017 20:42

Did you tell them to keep it confidential?

Aquamarine1029 · 03/10/2017 20:52

As you said, what's done is done. However, learn from this and think very carefully before you share private information with your In-laws. Fore warned is fair warned.

I didn't want to say anything to avoid awkward moments ☺️ In future things may be closely guarded, although naughty me senses the fun I could have giving out 'information' that's not actually true... our intended baby names for example 😁I've chilled out a bit now, thanks for allowing me to get it off my chest xx

Nightshade I beg to differ.
Neither my dps or dh dps have a cat in hells chance of being one. .
And my dc are non the worse for it..

I presume u mean no grandparents in the picture santa?

I'm sure your kids cope fine but unless OP is planning on cutting all ties with them now then she'll need to accept that they will be about...

Better amicable than not IMO.
