Posting here for traffic:

Last week I found a lump in my right breast. It's quite hard, non-movable and about the size of a large pea, just above my nipple. I went to the GP's and have been referred for an ultrasound scan and possible needle biopsy in just over a weeks' time.

My GP told me not to worry too much but did comment that as the lump is hard, I should get it looked at as soon as possible.

I know Dr Google is the enemy but I can't help looking and everything I've seen basically says that if the lump is hard then it's not usually good. I'm trying not to worry but it's difficult. I just wondered if anyone could share their experiences please and help me to man up!

I'm 35 btw.

I had the same and it was post Menopause tissue Build up, also common if you BF.

It got picked up on a Mammogram, to my shame I don't examine myself and I'd been seriously ill.

Through all the scan etc appointments, we had all had similar discovered/picked up and very few were anything to worry about.

You can't help but worry, though, i know. I just removed it from my mind whenever it popped in.

I have a friend that has had both Breasts off, so i just kept telling myself that it doesn't mean death, anyway.

Hello. I recently went through something similar. Of course nobody can tell you what the outcome is until you have been to the clinic, but rest assured that you will be in very good hands.

It is very difficult, but try to stay away from Google. You won't get the reassurance you are looking for and it just leads you down a rabbit hole of worry. If there is nothing wrong, Google will never satisfy your need for reassurance. If there is something wrong, Googling won't make any difference.

Remember that the vast majority of lumps, even those that have to be biopsied, are harmless. Mine turned out to be fatty tissue. The best thing you can do is try to keep busy until your appointment. When you go, take someone with you if you can (or if you can't then at least take a good book).

Good luck. X

The waiting for appointments and tests is just horrible. Try and keep busy and do as many normal and nice things as possible. 💐
