Got into a missed Hermes delivery today and the courier had left it 'behind variegated shrub'! I was most impressed, I would have called it a bush!

It's a good job your knowledge was as good. Grin I would have been 'which one's that then'?

Is it the one with green and yellow leaves?

WeeMadArthur · 03/10/2017 11:46

I'm also impressed that he took the time to write it out as they seem to be under such time pressures to get things delivered.

Sparkling yes it is, but 'bush' would have done just as well!

The courier found your home! I find that amazing. I was n the phone standing outside my house yesterday every other vehicle seemed to be

DonkeysDontRideBicycles · 03/10/2017 11:55

..a white van and goodness knows what the driver had typed into his sat nav but he took ages to get here.

DonkeysDontRideBicycles · 03/10/2017 11:57

(Should have said was expecting a delivery and the driver had phoned in some confusion).
Anyway full marks to OP's delivery guy.

Hmm, my Hermes delivery person described our shrub (well, fern actually) as a "secure outhouse".

I was most perplexed when I saw that as we have no outhouses, secure or otherwise - and if it was secure, how would he have left the parcel there??

WeeMadArthur · 03/10/2017 12:12

I'm impressed with the security offered by your fern nottwins my variegated shrub doesn't even have a door!

Donkeys you have my sympathy as someone who moved into a new build 8 years ago and some delivery firms still haven't updated their systems to include our postcode!

Do you expect delivery drivers to be thick?

cresit · 03/10/2017 12:16

Our Hermes man is into interior decor.
Our Asda man has encyclopedic knowledge of foot injuries.
The postie is a Chelsea fan.

DH, who's at home a lot at the moment, has learnt all sorts.

DonkeysDontRideBicycles · 03/10/2017 12:31

It was actually funny in retrospect as I was carefully describing our location and expecting to see him draw up at any minute when he must have been miles away. The courier delivering next door's parcel gave me a funny look when I greeted him joyfully thinking he was "my" courier Blush.
They have a tough job and nothing's ever been damaged in delivery.

Count yourself lucky it's the companies not updating their satnavs! Been in ours 3 years and GOOGLE still doesn't realise we are not living in a field!!!! YANBU BTW Grin

I love that. Wouldn't it be great to get such specificity e.g. it's behind the antirrhinum plant or tucked into the Cistus argenteus.

WeeMadArthur · 03/10/2017 17:04

Cheese no I didn't expect him to be thick, why would I? I was just impressed that he had the knowledge and time to be so specific. Having worked in retail with one woman who had completed her PhD in Microbiology and one who was starting hers in Law I don't judge anyone by the job they do, I also don't think that being able to identify plants indicates how intelligent someone is anyway.
