AIBU to ask about my oven?!

Posting for traffic - sorry!

I've just moved into a rented property and the oven has no markings on the dials!!!!!

I am trying to make chips and I have no idea if the oven if on or if the grill is on or the temperature it is on Sad I think I have attached a picture to see if anyone has the same oven (think it might be an indesit?) And can tell me what settings the dials are?!?! Thank you!!!!

I hope someone who has one will be along soon! It looks slightly like an oven I used to have: the dial on the left was temperature and the dial on the right switched between combinations of elements, so to cook chips I had to set it to the second position (both elements on). The first position was one element and the third was grill. But even the same brand can have different controls, so unfortunately all the above might be useless. Hope you can make it work!

Thank you! Definitely not the same... the left dial must be for the "setting" Because it clicks between whatever they are and the right once is a smooth turn so must be the temperatureConfused

Can you find the manufacturer and model on it? Might be on a panel inside the door if it's not obvious on the front. If you've got those you can Google for the instruction manual - I had to do this when staying at a friend's house with no markings and no instructions!

LittleFriendSusan · 02/10/2017 19:11

Is the model number inside the oven somewhere? We moved earlier this year and inherited an Indesit with the same issue (both hob and oven 🙄) - I googled and took a screenshot of the page in the instruction manual showing the dials. The plan was to put some of those number transfers on but I've kind if got the gist of it by now so haven't bothered. Not the same model as yours otherwise i'd share the pic!

Pombliboo123 · 02/10/2017 19:11

There's a sticker on the inside which just says Indes... which is how I guessed it was an indesit... but the rest is all faded/burnt away Sad

Does it look like it could be this OP?
This is an Indesit FIE56K.B

OP I have this oven in a double version. If the diagram above doesn't end up being quite right I'll send you over a pic of my controls as mine are just slightly different

Madcatter · 02/10/2017 19:36

You could Google indesit oven manuals and see if the dials/function positions are the same across models. If they are it's a safe bet yours will be the same too. If not then... err...

I suppose if it's a fan oven you should be able too see what makes the fan come on. Running out of ideas.

SweetChickadee · 02/10/2017 19:36

I'd be getting my sharpie out OP Grin

@User041011

Please could you send a picture anyway? The one above seems like it might be right but I'm not 100% certain so I could use the two for comparison to see!!

My temperatures are quite worn off but as you can see 180 is at about 7 o clock . And the setting dial mine is 2 clicks round for general oven use
