to want my own dog

We have a dog already, but she's a "one man dog", all for dh, i don't get a look in. I love her but she doesn't really care much about me itms. Aibu to want another dog who would be great company for the one we have now and hopefully for me too?

YANBU! :) What does your DH think about you both getting another? What kind of dog would you get?

feelingblue123 · 30/09/2017 00:06

Whippet. Whippet. Whippet.

If you and your DH want her to care more about you, he needs to stop feeding her/stop giving her treats.

Many dogs are surprisingly easy to befriend once you become their only source of food.

This is why animal trainers who work wonders, always reward with treats/food.

Other than that, if you really do want to introduce another dog to your home, it will obviously depend on whether the dog you have now will take to it.

Also, you'd be wrong to assume any new dog would automatically take to you, over your DH.

Bear in mind that dogs are unpredictable and dog 2 may also possibly end up deciding that your DH is God and you are just that quite nice person who opens the fridge and puts food down occasionally and sometimes even goes walking.

I feel for you but it doesn't work like that. They are contrary creatures and another dog may love DH just as much as dog #1.

LolaTheDarkdestroyer · 30/09/2017 00:41

Why don't you just get more involved with the dog you have? Try a few walks just you and her etc.
My old dog was only me and wouldn't even go on walks without me...she ended up possessive and snappy.
I've not made the same mistake again and our newest dog is a family dog.

SquidgeyMidgey · 30/09/2017 00:54

How do you think the dog would react to another coming onto its patch?

theymademejoin · 30/09/2017 01:10

Both our dogs prefer me to dh so no guarantees.
