To be so frightened

I've just watched a programme about North Korea and the US and i wish i hadn't. The worry is that Trump will decide he's had enough of the taunts and just start firing off missiles, or KJU might do the same. The doomsday clock is at two and a half minutes to midnight, the nearest since 1953. Can anyone please give any reassurance, i'm feeling sick with worry over this.

No reassurance. We are at a horrible stage in history. Only hope is that if we survive it, lessons will be learnt 💔

The only thing I keep telling myself is that surely trump is not bigger than the world. It's unthinkable that a man with so little experience and insight on the world stage could be allowed to let something like this happen. I can only hope that there are military advisors who are making the decisions. The problem is that it has now become a question of defence, the sanctions haven't worked.

My worry is what China and Russia will do if things escalate.

Yes i worry about China and Russia, i can't see how they wouldn't get involved if Trump attacked NK.

North Korea has been a huge problem for a very long time. They should have been prevented from building up their nuclear program long before Trump got into office, but nothing was done. Now look where we are.

To think the fate of the world could rest in the hands of two such equally unstable people is bloody ridiculous. We shouldn't have to put up with this.

I wish i could be like most people i know, they aren't the slightest concerned and think it's odd that i'm so worried.

USA will never fire first OP. There is a chain of command and strict protocols to follow BECAUSE it is far too dangerous for a single person to have sole control.
NK on the other hand does not have that failsafe mechanism. I can see them firing first at, say, Guam (US territory) and I can see USA retaliating. In that scenario I think China and Russia would do no more than grumble, as NK is the aggressor. They will protest to save face, but certainly no more than that.
