A woman (early 30s) well write status updates on her Facebook as if they are from her 6 month old son.
"Can't wait to see nan nan for lunch"
"Happy birthday Ga Ga can't wait to see you later"
"Love you ga ga,love you Na Na"
I don't know why it annoys me but I just think eh?

Yes I do and me & dh don't do it to our dc. They are just little people no need to dumb it down

Everytime we go in the cafe here the lady says to my dc have you got some Moo moo, for crying out loud say milk my dc are perfectly capable of understanding what milk is.

Also I think writing Facebook updates as if it's from the child is a bit weird, think she would of been on the hide list a long time ago

I've read that talking to young babies in that way actually aids speech development, as it teaches them about inflection etc.

But for older children, and certainly in written form, YANBU.

Yeah i hate it. I've never spoken to my dc in baby language and it's never affected their speech.

My friend has a baby name for everything! Usually ending in ie... yoggie, doggie, gi gi, biccie. Her youngnest is 5ffs!

I usually keep this to myself, but I hate it when adults say "tummy" and "comfy" and "pooter" (for "computer"). The first two don't even seem to be considered baby talk any more by people using them on Mumsnet.

Oh God yes, hate it. Saw a woman with her beautiful little girl in the supermarket. The mother was actually speaking to the Morrisons' assistant in a baby voice too because the assistant was speaking with the child. It made her look ridiculous.
