I watched Beauty & The Beast with my dc for the first time this evening.. Aibu to think Emma Watson is ridiculously overhyped in this, not impressed by her singing or acting.
Am I also aibu to think she is just another breed of private school, upper class types that are now taking over the film industry... If all aspiring actresses attended the Dragon school & Sylvia Young they would all have the connections needed to break into Hollywood blockbusters..

YABU. I think she's fab.

ItWentInMyEye · 27/09/2017 20:19

YANBU I thought she was wrongly cast and spoiled the film for me.

Sayyouwill · 27/09/2017 20:20

Aesthetically I think she's great.

OohMavis · 27/09/2017 20:22

They should've cast someone who can sing.

Joeymaynardslimegreendress · 27/09/2017 20:22

Ah don't be mean op it's our hermionie!

Seriously actors breed their own now.

Gwynneth paltrot and mum! Emma Thompson and mum, etc there are dynasties of actors now.

There seems to be a post on here every 5 minutes about someone hating Emma Watson. I'm not a fan of Jeremy Clarkson so I just don't watch stuff with him in it. Wouldn't say she was ridiculously overhyped on MN- quite the opposite. There are worse people invading our screens than her, that's for sure!

Valentine2 · 27/09/2017 20:27

She is well on her way to be a woman of the Meryl Streep/Helen Mirren kind. YADBU.

muuuuuumy1 · 27/09/2017 20:36

Sorry, my dc loved her as Belle, I can't fathom why an actress who can't sing is cast in a musical.
I was an aspiring actress when I was young, however it was impossible to break into the industry as it was already saturated with super confident private school types who were not necessairly more talented but the had the connections made. Also they attended schools who were used to doing huge productions so had that experience also ie Emma Watson's a product of the Dragon school

Dan thingamy was even more miscast

OohMavis · 27/09/2017 20:42

My kids didn't mind until she started singing.

"Mummy, why does her voice sound funny?"
"Autotune, love"

It's a really odd choice. And tbh, she doesn't really have Belle's face. There HAD to be a better fit somewhere.

And I really like Emma Watson so nurr Smile

MagicMoneyTree · 27/09/2017 20:44

Ahhh so you're jealous!

colouringinagain · 27/09/2017 20:47

Yabu she's a great feminist role model for my dd Smile

SugarMiceInTheRain · 27/09/2017 20:47

Yanbu. I get really annoyed at people who aren't singers being cast in singing roles in films because of who they are (e.g. Les Miserables, Mamma Mia ). Otherwise I have no problem with Emma Watson per se.

crazycatgal · 27/09/2017 20:50

YANBU, her singing was very heavily autotuned and she really didn't fit the part.
