Not to arrange a party for dd's 3rd birthday?

And take her somewhere special as a family instead?

Maybe I'm being a bit lazy / antisocial.

She has friends at nursery, but I haven't actually met them or their parents yet, (just seen them briefly at nursery drop off / pick up - she's only been there's for about 6 weeks).

We normally do a small family party, but my family can't come this year as they live too far away, I'll be 8 months pregnant and if I'm honest, I don't really fancy hosting DH's sister, her husband and their children. There's absolutely nothing wrong with them. They're lovely, but can sometimes be hard work, so I don't always enjoy hosting them.

I feel guilty, but surely DD would enjoy a day out with DH and me just as much as a party? I'll probably do a party next year, when I know her nursery friends and their parents a little better.

Thoughts?
