I know I am, but 10 yo is having a GA this afternoon to have a tooth removed and I'm unbelievably anxious.
Someone please tell me how ridiculous I'm being.

You're being ridiculous :)

strawberrygate · 27/09/2017 13:06

Thank you. I know. None of them have had a GA before, and he's currently with his dad waiting to go in, but it could be 4 pm before they do it. I'm not usually an anxious person but I'm having a major wobble

Is there something to distract you. You could always have a read of the threads in Mumsnet classics if you need a bit of diversion.

My son had this in 2015 for seven teeth out it's no big deal don't worry. Although it took him a week to recover after they told me it would be 48h

trilbydoll · 27/09/2017 13:11

You're not being totally ridiculous, there are risks, I think it's normal to worry! Statistics are on your side though, I'm sure the stress will be for nothing Smile

I'm distracting myself with match betting whilst the little ones are asleep!
I hope it doesn't take him a week to recover, he's got his 11= on saturday!

My DD got 5 teeth out under GA when she was 7. She had an injury which affected her teeth and they were basically dying. She was eating properly by 4pm after having surgery at 10. She’s the most dramatic person I’ve ever known and she was absolutely fine.

Primulas · 27/09/2017 16:25

Oh, you're not being ridiculous at all, but he will be absolutely fine. DS2 had had three GAs by the time he was 8 weeks old, including one at 1 day old, poor wee thing, and I was very anxious for each one. As pp have said though, statistics are absolutely on your side and I'm sure he will be very well looked after.

elliejjtiny · 27/09/2017 16:33

Yanbu. My 4 year old has had 14 GA's, my 9 year old has had 2 and my 11 year old has had 1. I was nervous before each one but they were all fine. My 11 year old has fond memories of his. He spent all afternoon watching films, had tea in bed and then read his Lego magazine. He thought it was great. I was a nervous wreck though.

DSHathawayGivesMeFannyGallops · 27/09/2017 18:07

I'm 27 and terrified of GA! He's your child, it's natural to worry and GA makes you feel crap. Xxx
