To cancel my fundraiser?

I'm doing a half marathon for charity in 8 weeks. It's my first and I was up to 10k in training and then was going to start upping the distance in preparation. However I've just sprained my ankle (whilst walking, not running, of all things!)

Even if I just rest it up for a week or two, I don't think I have enough time after that to up the distance, or that trying to train for/ultimately run 21k is going to be good for it.

The problem is I've already accepted a number of donations to my justgiving page. What is the protocol? Ask people if they want a refund (if justgiving does this)? Commit to doing a Half in the spring and carry over donations to it?

AIBU to cancel or would it be for the best?

Definitely cancel, you could do a lot of harm if you try and train when not fully fit. Carrying it forward seems like a good idea. Explain it to your friends and see what they think.

I was doing a charity 10k, and injured my foot, ironically whilst doing 10k in training. I explained to my friends that I would walk it instead, and they all still sponsored me.
