To wonder how to deal with this ?

Hope this doesn't offend but recently my son went into year 1 so has a new teacher. Anyway he told me he doesn't like his teacher because she's Indian! I am mortified as we are not a racist family so I can't understand where he got it from, we are a mixed race, and live in south east london so come across different races all the time. Is it best to ignore? Is this normal things that children come out with?

How did you respond?

Dancingfairy · 25/09/2017 22:00

I told him that that wasn't very nice and asked him why that made him not like her but didn't get any reason out of him.

Children say all sorts of things-often picked up from their friends. The important thing though is how you dealt with it! What did you say?

Dancingfairy · 25/09/2017 22:02

He's said it again earlier this evening so just had me wondering how they pick these things up if they haven't been taught it but guess it could be from a friend then. I repeated that it isn't a nice thing to say but wondered if I should have said something different.
