To be attracted by the bad boy thing at my age?

I'm 38, recently divorced. I go to a martial arts class twice a week and have known the instructor since I was 14. I knew he had a son but had never met him until recently at a competition we were both helping at.

I liked him as soon as I met him but didn't realise who he was until later in the day. We got chatting, he was funny, but of low level flirting on his side but I kept a bit of a barrier up so not to lead him on.

Since this day he's decided to start training at the martial arts club again. He also does boxing and MMA on other nights of the week. He'd given this martial art up until we met now all of a sudden he's back into it.

Thing is I like him, I really like him and I'm trying so hard not to because he's not my usual type, he's rough as hell, swears a lot, has a reputation for being a tough nut - so why am I falling for him?? I said it just the thrill of the bad boy thing after being with mr sensible for so long??

He's asked me to go and see a movie with him. I need to decide what way I want this to go before I give a response. So far I've been cool and stand offish with him but I think he's seeing through it. I feel like a teenager again. What would you do?? Am I being unreasonable for wanting to get involved with a "bad boy" when I'm usually mrs quiet/shy/introvert/professional blah blah?

Hmm Sceptical hat on. Go to the movie, report back.

If you're recently divorced from Mr Sensible this may explain a lot! Depends how much of a 'bad boy' he is and whether you can go into it and not get hurt?

A movie? Well that's not very bad boyish. At the very least I'd expect a ride on a motorbike (with no helmets, obvs) skinny dipping in a local body of water and sex somewhere public. And maybe a police chase.

A movie is just a bit...normal.

If you're both single I don't see the problem!
You knew him when you were both 14? What was he like back then?
