Off on hols tomorrow. Hoping to set off at 4.00 am. Have been washing, ironing cleaning like a mad thing for a couple of days. Hoped to have an early night, nice and relaxed. But what's DH doing? Flapping because he can't find bits of the bloody roof box. We've known we've been going for months, he's had all week off work and has done sod all to help get any packing etc done. Actually he hasn't even packed a thing for himself yet. Oh well, he's driving so he'll be tired won't he

Absolutely normal, yes. We are going on holiday tomorrow and I haven't even started packing yet!

sarahhal · 06/04/2007 21:03

If we are off by 9.00am let alone 4.00 it'll be a miracle. Last summer we aimed to leave for a month in France (imagine the stress of packing all that lot!)at 9.00am and it was 4.00pm when we finally made it!!!!

Totally, totally, normal.

I'm afraid I now make DH a to do list and insist it is done within schedule because his last minute faffing drives me BANANAS.

tinkerbellhadpiles · 06/04/2007 21:10

I always get blamed when my DH forgets to pack something essential too

elasticbandstand · 06/04/2007 21:11

sarah, you must be me

wurlywurly · 06/04/2007 21:13

totally normal

bewilderbeast · 06/04/2007 21:18

normal i'm afraid

JonesTheSteam · 06/04/2007 21:20

Not normal in our house.

Yes, I'd be the one doing all the clothes packing, but I'd be running round like a lunatic trying to find all the things I've misplaced.

DH is organised, calm, unruffled, and will have everything ready in plenty of time.

It's very irritating!!!

FrayedKnot · 06/04/2007 21:21

Once spent a quite short long weekend in Paris trying to find a department store that sold mens' pants.

I won;t pack for DH on principle but if I want to enjoy my holiday, I make him do it in plenty of time.

stitch · 06/04/2007 21:22

yes, completely normal

in fact, dh didnt bother telling me the hotel wss self catering, i.e no breakfast available, till we were in france. even then it was because i was questioninnng his desire togo to a supermarrket.

deaconblue · 06/04/2007 21:26

Dh always does this. When he goes away on business he's up til 2am the night before because he refuses to plan, organise or pack anything until the last minute. Annoying isn't it?

FrayedKnot · 06/04/2007 21:26

Oh yey, that reminds me of the time DH booked a trip to Venice but was totally unaware that we were flying to the tiny airport miles away from venice that Ryanair use...so we didn;t know what to do when we got there or how to get back tehre when we had to leave.

Nice thought tho'...

PippiLangstrump · 06/04/2007 21:40

frayedknot my DH must have a double life and be your husband too. I am training at the mo.

our first trip together (a month after we started going out) we went to the canaries. he said he was going to bring the details of the hotel etc. on the plane I ask him if he has such things. 'oh no, he says, someone from the tour operator will have our names at the airport and will take us there!' at 3am?? booked over the net??? I kept quiet as in love and waiting to laugh.

obviously no one there. DH does not have a thing, does not know the name of the hotel. maybe remembers it from the picture in the website. had to find a comp. went to the wrong one. all booked everywhere. finally booked in a cheapo place for the night.
To redime himself though when I woke up the next morning he had already sorted everything out and the luggage where already in our hotel.

useless though!

so I'd\ say perfectly normal!

sounds just like in my house...
