Should I expect a refund?

I have posted in Legal but was wondering if I’m thinking reasonably.

I bought something through a private seller for £30. The next day I notice a problem so contact the seller. They were very sorry and said bring it back and swap it if you want. I declined a swap (because of my now lack of confidence) and returned the item. Before I left they asked for my bank details so that they could bank transfer the money back. That was 6 days ago. I text to ask about it and was told as I was a new contact it would take 2hrs-7 days. I posted about bank transfers here to first question how safe it was to give out my details. People have commented that it shouldn’t take this long at all. I’ve made contact again today by text asking if they’d had chance to make the transfer but no reply. Where do I stand? I have texts where they say they will give me my money back by bank transfer.

Am I being unreasonable to expect my money back?

Buyer beware

I don’t know what to do about it next, I’m gutted because it was originally my son’s birthday money. It feels wrong that I’ve paid for something I haven’t got.

Ask for proof its been sent and if possible say you will come and collect the cash.

Bit late now but I wouldn't have left initially without the cash in my hand as I am cynical person!
