Hounded by estate agent?

WinditupSlowitdown · 23/09/2017 14:18

In total he's called me 6 times, sent me an email and a written letter about selling my property with them.

Aibu to find this a bit much? Or is it normal? I've never sold a property before

Did you approach him about selling or has he completely cold called you?

coddiwomple · 23/09/2017 14:25

We are being pestered all the time where I am, but only by letter. The area is still in high demand obviously, so all the local agents are always circling around, but it's one letter a week, and it's bad enough. I would not be happy about more than 1 phone call.

I would contact the agency and strongly complain, it's ridiculous. If nothing else, you will go with someone else if you end up selling.

It's way too much. If he calls again, tell him to stop.

Literally an estae agents job is to get houses for sale

Presumably you approached them?

pleasingone · 23/09/2017 14:32

Regardless of whether you contacted the agent for an appraisal or not this is not acceptable. You will find that once you market your property other agents will contact you then too.
Tell them by email that they are verging on harassment and their chances or you using them have diminished with constant contact.

One agent who valued our home revisited us the same day to put a prospectus of our house through the door! He'd gone ahead and prepared the marketing material before we'd said yes.

Make sure you negotiate the commission you pay OP.

6 times

In an hour? Day? Week? Month?

LazyDailyMailJournos · 23/09/2017 15:32

Did you approach them for a valuation? If so then a simple phone call telling them you changed your mind/went with another agent/decided to sell it to Aunt Maude instead, will solve the problem.
