To wonder where are my neighbours?

So I've lived in my home for about 18mths and my DF lived here previously for several years, in that time the next door neighbour has been a middle aged woman with 4 kids, she's had her share of drama, 3 kids have been removed.
She also had her window put in twice in the middle of the night.
Always seemed to keep to herself and was polite enough to me.
Her teenager son still lived with her and he attracted trouble, always smoking pot out his window and lots of coming and going (I suspect drug dealers).

Anyway for the last few days there back gate has been left open which is strange as they have a dog so always make sure it's shut.
Doesn't appear to have been any movement or loud music which is odd but haven't seen anyone move out either.

I'm pretty much a stay at home mum so Im sure I'd have noticed.

Two days ago the police knocked on my door asking if I've seen them apparently they had a 999 call about the household.
They asked me some questions which I couldn't answer, like their names I have no idea and neither does my DF.
When I last heard them etc.
Police then went off and not seen since.

But where the fuck are my neighbours??
House doesn't appear empty from looking through the window (nosey).
My current theory is they got so fed up of my cockeral in the garden they just buggered off.

How intriguing. Two possibilities spring to mind:

1. They've done something bad and done a runner
2. Someone has done something bad to them.

If the police suspected the latter, they would have got into the property to check, so I think it's probably the former.

Or it'll be something really dull, like they've gone on holiday.

I'd say gone on holiday/stay with family or they've done a moonlight flit.

That's really scary. Glad the police have been round.

One day a couple of years ago a random person banged on our door asking if we had seen the woman who lived in the flat below - turned out to be her boss and she hadn't turned up to work and hadn't called and they were clearly very concerned. I'd only seen her once so couldn't help. Police came round later and kicked the door down - turns out she was severely anorexic and she had died. I still feel terrible that we were sitting there above her with no idea and wish I could have helped somehow, I have a history of anorexia myself. That poor woman.

Sounds like your neighbour may have done a runner, although could be a holiday?
