Googling doctors

Just reading the other thread and I wondered about this. I was considering changing my daughters therapist so googled to see who else at the centre she might be able to work with.

I was really amazed at the personal information that one of the the therapists had put online.

I would never ordinarily google therapists/doctors/social workers but am just wondering if others do and if the fact that the power differential falls the other way makes it acceptable

i dont think NHS doctors put them selves on line, but private doctors will be on line.

What about doctors who do both? Personally I wouldn't expect them to have an online presence at all and wasn't looking for anything other than a list of clinicians at the practice.

i mentioned this to friends who said that they regularly googled as they wanted to see exactly who would be treating them/their child.

well i think most who practice privately do nhs so yes you will see them.

I did google my surgeon and the info is there, as put up by private hospitals, although i didnt see him privately.

Why wouldn't you expect a GP to have an online presence? What sites Dom you meant, are you checking Facebook or LinkedIn?

No just their place of work. Would expect names and dates qualified but no more

Most therapist who have private practice will have a website and some use social media to market their business. That's how people get work.
