Aperol. When did that become a thing?

Keep seeing ads. It looks revolting. Tastes revolting. A bit like orange nurofen. Bleugh. I want to scrub my teeth afterwards.
Or am I just drinking it wrong?

I love an aperol spritz. Started seeing it around a few summers ago.

Spuddington · 22/09/2017 17:54

Aperol spritz is lovely!

BarbaraofSevillle · 22/09/2017 17:55

What does it taste like?

LakieLady · 22/09/2017 17:56

I like it. Have you tried an Aperol Spritz? Aperol and Prosecco, lots of ice, a wedge of orange and a splash of soda. Bloody lovely on a hot day.

LakieLady · 22/09/2017 17:57

It's a bit like Campari, Barbara - sort of bitter and orangey.

bowtieandheels · 22/09/2017 17:57

So gross, don't get it at all!

dingit · 22/09/2017 17:57

I drunk it in Italy. Not sure what they had mixed it with, handed round pre dinner.

Love it and have loved it since I had it in Italy 15 years ago!

ihatethecold · 22/09/2017 17:58

Love an aperol spritz. 🍹

KimchiLaLa · 22/09/2017 17:58

It definitely tastes better in a hot climate...but also good here. I love it!

PantPlot · 22/09/2017 17:58

Love it.

First had it in Italy yonks ago, after I asked in a bar what was the orange thing that everyone was drinking.

Sunnydaysrock · 22/09/2017 17:58

So nasty. Why does it even exist?

MeganChips · 22/09/2017 17:59

An Aperol spritz is one of my favourite drinks. Fab on a hot day.

froomeonthebroom · 22/09/2017 17:59

lakie Am I the only one who said 'It's a bit like campari barbara' in an Essex accent?

TippyTinkleTrousers · 22/09/2017 18:00

It's absolutely one of the rankest drinks I've ever had. I couldn't even finish it.

ZiggyForever · 22/09/2017 18:00

They're doing a massive marketing push on it at the moment, and it's working because it's bloody everywhere. They even got the Made In Chelsea lot to plug it on a recent episode.

Not that I would ever watch such trashy telly. I was just channel-hopping, y'see . . . Grin

dingit · 22/09/2017 18:01

Just googled it. Apparently a secret recipe, but has rhubarb in it. I bloody love rhubarb. I think I'll stick to the rhubarb gin I've just bought.

Thanks. I suspected as much. I won't be trying it. Campari is one of the most revolting things I have ever tasted and I've only had a tiny sip of someone else's Campari and soda ages ago.

Whereisthesunshine · 22/09/2017 18:04

I love it. Really want an Aperol Spritz now Envy

Slimthistime · 22/09/2017 18:08

I like it on its own as well as a spritz. I'm not a fan of most alcohol.

Runningyogabooze · 22/09/2017 18:08

About three years ago

AdaColeman · 22/09/2017 18:09

Too sweet for me, I prefer Campari. Wine

Auntiedahlia · 22/09/2017 18:10

Delicious. Good use of revolting proseccco.
